This year the Chronic Lyme Summit runs from July 27th to August 7th. I’m very happy to hear that it is still free! And I’m extra excited to attend this year to see what advice some of these experts might have for Lyme Disease patients in navigating COVID19.
There are always so many speakers at this summit. This year I’ve decided to be a little pickier. So here’s my reduced list of 5 speakers I’ll be checking out and why.
DAY 1: JULY 27, 2020
Richard Horowitz, MD
Updated Treatments for Lyme and Tick-Borne Disorders
Dr. Horowitz is probably the most well-known doctor in the Lyme space. He wrote Why Can’t I Get Better, which I’ve summarized here. It’s worth the read, though a bit disappointing in terms of practical solutions. (He is a master of sounding clever while thoroughly confusing you with layered problems. Still, I’m probably most looking forward to hearing some of his new findings since writing his last book.
Horowitz will cover:
- Political updates on Lyme disease
- Considerations for pregnant women
- New treatments available
DAY 2: JULY 28, 2020
Shivan Sarna
Lyme and SIBO Connection
She offers the ‘Advanced Training for Practitioners On Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth’ at a hefty $2,229, which I’d never personally pay for, but I’m hoping she will share some of the wisdom in her course in her free talk at this summit this year.
What Shivan will cover:
- Overcoming bloating, gas and constipation
- What is the migrating motor complex?
- SIBO treatment
DAY 3: JULY 29, 2020
Tiffany Caplan, DC, CFMP, BCIM, IFMCP
Link Between Lyme, Lupus and Autoimmunity
This one’s personal. My biomarkers have suggested Lupus for as long as I’ve been coping with Lyme disease. It seems I’m not the only one 🤔
What Caplan will cover:
- Autoimmune triggers
- Best diet for autoimmunity
- Lyme vs. lupus symptoms
Ashley Beckman, DACM
Epigenetics and Lyme Disease
This one is for the nerds. Genetics has come quite the way since last year. Definitely worth checking out.
Beckman will cover:
- What areas of health can genetics target?
- Importance of epigenetics
- Are there genes associated with Lyme?
DAY 7: AUGUST 2, 2020
Robin Nielsen
Top 10 Hormone Deal-Breakers
No matter who you decide to check out at the summit, I think it’s important to learn about hormones (broadly and individually speaking) as they can do so much good and so much damage, especially with women. Balancing your hormones is a great holistic way to heal.
Learn more about why hypothyroidism and Lyme create a negative feedback look here.
Hilary Swank’s doppelganger will cover:
- Hormones can raise the risk of contracting Lyme
- Most important hormones
- What is the 5% solution?
That’s it for me! Knowledge is power, and if you’re a keener, I’m sure each one of the speakers this year will be able to offer you value if you watch them all.
I hope you get to listen to some of these speakers. It’s free, and it’s a great way to learn the latest in Lyme.
You can register for the summit here.
